Our bicentenary year is a time to recognise our key discoveries, pioneering ideas and world firsts.
2024 also marks the 20th anniversary of graphene being isolated for the very first time by Professor Sir Andre Geim and Professor Sir Kostya Novoselov at The University of Manchester, for which they won the 2010 Nobel Prize for Physics.
On Tuesday, 12 March 2024 the University will celebrate this remarkable scientific breakthrough. Professor Geim will be in conversation with Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell, the University’s President and Vice-Chancellor, discussing a range of topics including Professor Geim's experiences of isolating graphene and its almost limitless potential.
An audience Q&A will follow the discussions.
