  • Choose 2024/25 Academic Year (courses starting between August 2024 and July 2025)

Course overview

  • Gain the skills to return to social work if you're a previously registered social worker who hasn't been registered with Social Work England for 2-5 years or more.
  • Apply to re-register with Social Work England and return to qualified practice upon course completion.
  • Explore key updates in policies, legislation and research.
  • Undertake a supervised placement to re-familiarise yourself with the workplace.
  • Study on a course funded by the Department for Education (DfE)'s Regional Improvement Plan Pilot (North West), free for social workers returning to practice in Greater Manchester, Cheshire or Merseyside.

  • Day 2: 29 April 2025 - online
  • Day 3: 30 April 2025 - online
  • Day 4: 1 May 2025 - online
  • Greater Manchester Placements start from 5 May
  • Day 5 for Greater Manchester: 11 June - in person (Manchester)
  • Cheshire and Merseyside Placements start from 5 May through to 11 July 2025
  • Day 5 for Cheshire and Merseyside: 15 July 2025 – in person (Cheshire and Merseyside)

Policy on additional costs

All students should normally be able to complete their programme of study without incurring additional study costs over and above the tuition fee for that programme. Any unavoidable additional compulsory costs totalling more than 1% of the annual home undergraduate fee per annum, regardless of whether the programme in question is undergraduate or postgraduate taught, will be made clear to you at the point of application.
