Manchester's Law School is one of the oldest and most prestigious in the country and has a major international reputation. Since its inception it has been at the forefront of legal and public policy formation and development and many of its graduates and staff have played central roles in public life.
The School offers wide-ranging expertise across all areas of legal studies, socio-legal studies, criminology and medical ethics. It incorporates the Centre for Criminology and Criminal Justice, whose academic staff are international experts in their field and hold a number of prestigious grants and awards. The School is an ESRC-recognised outlet for PhD training.
Students pursuing advanced degrees in the Centre will join a lively interdisciplinary group of scholars and an active postgraduate student community.
