Programme support
We offer dedicated support to our Study Abroad and exchange students, both before and after arrival, to help make the most of Manchester.
You’ll have tailored support during your time in Manchester with regular communications and updates from our team, access to free English language classes, and the opportunity to be paired with a student mentor to help you settle into the University and city.
English language support
While all non-native English speakers will need to meet our language entry requirements, we want to support students whose first language isn’t English by providing non-credit, in-sessional language support at no extra cost.
Find out more about our in-sessional courses.
We also offer a range of credit-bearing courses to help you develop your English further. These courses can be found on the University Centre for Academic English website.
Global Friends Mentor Scheme
As part of our Global Friends Mentor Scheme, you can apply to be paired with a Manchester student who has experienced studying abroad.
Before the start of the semester, participants will be put in touch with their mentor and they’ll provide guidance on the practicalities of moving countries, share information about the University’s campus and the city, and answer any questions you may have student-to-student.
Once you arrive in Manchester, you’ll have the opportunity to meet your mentor at a welcome event in the first few weeks of the semester.
