Safety and security
We prioritise your safety with round-the-clock security measures across campus.
Our security team is the first point of contact, providing advice and assistance to maintain a secure environment.
We also have:
- free SafeZone app – connecting you directly to Campus Support and Security for immediate help and support across the campuses of The University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Salford;
- immediate response – quick response to emergencies and incidents through the app;
- 24/7 security presence – high visibility patrols on foot and in cars across all campus areas;
- CCTV monitoring – extensive monitoring, including Body Worn Video devices;
- crime prevention – initiatives to minimise, prevent, and detect crime on campus;
- collaborative teams – working with external security contractors, police, and emergency services.

Support services
We want you to do well in your studies and enjoy your student life and we have support on hand to help you throughout your time here, including:
- Student Support Hubs help with issues affecting your studies and your student life, including signposting and providing contact details for more specialist services if required.
- As a student, the Student Services Centre will be your main point of contact for any administrative questions.
- We have offer dedicated programme support to our Study Abroad and exchange students, both before and after arrival.
- The Students' Union also have a whole range of support and guidance to help with university life.
Feeling supported while you study
Moving to the city gave me a higher level of freedom and representation. As an LGBTQ+ person, I felt a lot safer and had a much larger community around me.
