Commercialisation of research
Encouraging enterprise is a critical aspect of The University of Manchester's research culture. Commercialisation and exploitation of our intellectual property (IP) is therefore a fundamental part of our activity.
The University of Manchester Innovation Factory is responsible for taking the world-changing ideas and technologies that are created at the University and commercialising them to create positive global, social and economic impact.
The Innovation Factory works with academic and student inventors to identify research that has the potential to create future value, through technology licensing or the formation of new spin-out companies.
The team also partners with external stakeholders from industry, entrepreneurs and investors to license the University’s diverse portfolio of intellectual property.
Projects, which showcase the transfer of our intellectual property through licensing and spin-outs, are available to explore on the Innovation Factory website.
You can follow our IP commercialisation activities on Twitter (@putideastowork).
