Master’s fees for international students
International students are charged a tuition fee for their chosen course based on the clinical and non-clinical costs involved in its teaching and delivery.
Fees vary for each master's course – details of individual course fees can be found on course profiles.
- For part-clinical courses, you will be charged at the science-fee rate for non-clinical years and the clinical fee rate for clinical years of study.
- For modular courses, the fee per module will increase annually.
Postgraduate study in the UK
Studying in the UK can be great value for money. UK degree courses are generally shorter than in the US and Australia because they are more intensive – full-time postgraduate master’s courses are only one year long compared to two in other countries.
This makes a postgraduate course in the UK more efficient in terms of your time and money.
Tuition fees cover the cost of your master’s study at the University and include registration, tuition, supervision, examinations and graduation and give you access to The University of Manchester Library, Students' Union and the Athletic Union.
An offer of a place at the University is made on the understanding that you can pay for your tuition fees and living expenses for the duration of your course.
Returning international students
You'll be charged annually at the rate for the year you started your studies. This rate remains fixed for the duration of your course or research.
How can I pay my fees?
There are a number of ways you can pay your fees, such as:
- paying in instalments;
- bank transfer;
- someone else can pay on your behalf;
- direct debit.
For more information visit the Student Services Tuition fee page.
Deposits
If you're undertaking a one-year taught master’s degree, you'll need to pay a tuition fee deposit before an electronic Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) can be issued.
A CAS is an essential document you'll need when applying for a student visa under Tier 4 of the Points Based System. For all courses, the deposit will be offset against the fee when you register.
